Composting Solution!

Nimmo Community Garden has partnered with Tidewater Compost to come up with a solution for all of our compostable refuse from the plots and Giving Garden.

There is a small, one time sign up fee for Community Garden members. You can then use the kiosk for composting plant materials and home compostable materials. Learn more about drop off services.

Composting Kiosk

You will notice a fenced area next to the sheds on the right when you come back to the garden. Nimmo Garden has partnered with Tidewater Compost to provide a solution for all compostable material at the garden. We will not have the limitations that we did with our prior partner last season.

How It Works

There is a nominal one time fee of $25 to be able to use the composting service. All organic waste from your garden plot AND your home if you would like can be disposed of here.

You can learn more about the service here:

IMPORTANT: Even though the sign up form says there is a $15/mo fee, there is not one for Community Garden Plot members. Once you signup and they confirm you are a plot renter, this fee will be removed from your account. There is only a 1 time (not once per season) $25 fee for your home composting kit.

What if I don’t want to use the compost kiosk?

If you are a plot member, you are not required to sign up for this service.

If you do not though, ALL compost from your plot must be taken home and disposed of.

This includes all weeds, diseased plants, rotten produce, plant trimmings, and plants removed at the end of the season.

ABSOLUTELY NO compostable material can go in the black city trash cans at the front of the Giving Garden
